IBM Touts DB2 Client Migrations, Channel Adoptions

Vendor points to addition of 500 solution providers to the platform in past year.

IBM Corp. said that in the past year, since its introduction of DB2 9.7, it has attracted a number of new clients and partners to the platform, offering that some 500 solution providers have adopted the technology, and touted the competitive migrations it has won from Oracle Corp's Database 11g installations.

Last week, the vendor said that it expects a new SQL Skin feature of the DB2 software, co-developed with Ants Software Inc., a database migration specialist, designed to ease risks associated with moving legacy systems from Sybase's Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) database software platform, will lure more clients into the fold.

IBM made the disclosures at its Information on Demand conference in Rome, attended by some 2,500 customers and partners. Read more…
