Westcon Buys PT Netpoleon, Indonesian Security Distributor
Transaction adds to distributor’s presence in market in Southeast Asia.
Westcon Group Inc. said that it has bought PT Netpoleon, an Indonesia-based distributor of security, networking and convergence solutions, a transaction the company said marks its first significant presence in the world’s fourth most populated country.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. PT Netpoleon will operate as a Westcon unit and serve as the base of Westcon’s Indonesian operations, based in Jakarta, official said. Edward Lim, who co-founded PT Netpoleon in 2000, will stay on to run day-to-day operations.
“Westcon Group’s reputation is outstanding and we are confident this transaction and investment will result in significant business growth across Indonesia,” said Lim.
PT Netpoleon’s portfolio includes Avaya Inc., Cisco Systems Inc.’s IronPort, Juniper Networks Inc., Firetide Inc., a Los Gatos, CA-based provider of wireless communication infrastructures, and Radware Ltd., a Mahwah, NJ-based specialist in application delivery and application security solutions for virtual and cloud data centers.
The distributor also provides managed services, maintenance and implementation services, and technical support and training to its reseller base.
“This transaction not only brings us a broader footprint into this significant emerging market, but also better serves a rapidly growing local and global partner base in the Asia Pacific region,” said Wendy O’Keeffe, Westcon executive vice president, Asia Pacific.
