Symantec Corp. recently said that it will operate its U.S. security operations out of a new facility that will better support the growth of its managed security services business for enterprise customers.

The vendor’s new Security Operations Center (SOC) is located in Herndon, VA and replaces a prior site in nearby Alexandria, VA. It is the company’s fourth such facility, with other sites in the UK, Australia and India.

Symantec said that the Herndon SOC offers capacity for twice as many technical staffers to handle the growth of its monitoring and management service business, which it said grew 450 percent year-over-year.

“Our new Security Operations Center provides capacity for more than twice the number of technical staff to help us more effectively scale our Managed Security Service offerings to our growing number of customers worldwide,” said Brian Dunphy, Symantec senior director, product management, Managed Security Services.

The security vendor said that its four SOCs together analyze some 12 billion logs worldwide to help customers bolster defenses and respond to new threats.
