Websense, Juniper To Deliver Joint Security Solution
Partnership integrates content security with high performance networking.
Websense Inc. and Juniper Networks Inc. said that together they will offer a high-performance security solution that combines Websenses content security offerings with Junipers SRX Series network platform.
Websense said that the deal is important because it incorporates content security as an integral piece of high performance networking, resulting in a differentiated solution and a distinct value proposition for channel partners.
Officials said that the agreement covers Websenses Web Security Gateway and Data Loss Prevention technologies and allows it to leverage Junipers security infrastructure, benefitting customers building secure Web 2.0 and content-rich networks.
Both companies pledged that their deal will result in a lowered cost-of-ownership profile and simplified deployment. They believe their collaboration will enhance network topology and consolidate security functionality, bringing optimized network service and performance.
"To protect enterprise data from threats, while preserving network performance and minimizing total cost of ownership it is critical for network infrastructure, network security and content security to be tightly integrated," said Devin Redmond, Websense vice president, product management.
"With this partnership we are focused on providing customers with the ability to deploy our combined solutions with the highest networking performance and best security available on the market," Redmond said.
"Adding application awareness to the network is imperative," said Brian Lazear, Juniper senior director, product management.
"Partnering with Websense enables Juniper to provide customers with unmatched Web and data security capabilities that better secure their networks," he said.
Partnership offers lowered total-cost-of-ownership
The companies said that lowered cost-of-ownership will result from a reduction in the number of security nodes and related managed stemming from the combination of Websenses Web Security Gateway with content analytics, integrated data loss prevention and centralized management, and Junipers SRX Series network platform with 120Gbps of firewall performance, 30Gbps of IPS performance, 10M sessions and the integrated AppSecure services suite.
The solution offers Websenses Web Security Gateway interoperating with Juniper's SRX Series to leverage security intelligence gathered from some 50 million real-time data collecting systems in the Websense ThreatSeeker® Network and Websenses database of millions of classified URLs.
Websense said that its Web Security Gateway gains from partnerships with Facebook and bit.ly as well as value-added service providers such as Radialpoint, to collect and categorize Web intelligence.
An analyst at researcher International Data Corp. said that the Websense and Juniper partnership will help enterprise and service provider networks.
"By selecting Websense as a key security partner, Juniper is presenting a differentiated vision by providing customers with market-leading content security as an integral piece of the network -- giving their customers the highest level of consideration against the evolving threat landscape," said Chris Christiansen, IDC program vice president, security products and services.
"Juniper has already integrated strong network layer security, adding content security is the next logical step and Websense is the clear leader in that space. This partnership enables Juniper and Websense to leverage their respective leadership positions to better serve enterprise and service provider networks."
