Westcon Names New EMEA Operations Lead

Westcon Group Inc. said that it has hired Jeremy Butt, a former Avaya Inc. worldwide channel chief and 20-year IT industry veteran, to head its EMEA operations, a newly-created unit that melds the distributor’s European unified communications, European security and Africa/India/Middle East business.

Butt, whose official title is EMEA executive vice president, will be tasked with unifying Westcon’s separate regional business units under one umbrella, strengthening partner relationships and broadening the distributor’s unified communications and security business. He will be based in Slough, U.K., reporting directly to Dean Douglas, Westcon president and chief executive.

“Jeremy is a great hire for us as he’ll bring the right mix of experience and leadership necessary to power our next stage of growth,” said Douglas.

Butt credited his work with Westcon EMEA in his former role at Avaya as a positive influence on his new post. At Avaya, Butt managed the vendor’s 9,000 channel relationships, oversaw the launch of Avaya’s Connect global channel program and the recruitment and integration of Nortel Enterprise Systems’ channel partners into the vendor’s program.

He also had a stint at Motorola as vice president, worldwide channels, enterprise mobility business, in which he handled the PartnerSelect channel program and helped to bring new enterprise mobility solutions to market. Butt also spent four years at Cisco Systems Inc. as director of sales, EMEA distribution and resellers.
