Avnet Technology Solutions, the distribution arm of Avnet Inc., said it has hired Steve Kedzior, a 25-year IT industry veteran, as vice president and general manager of services.

Kedzior is tasked with crafting and implementing the distributor’s services strategy, which revolves around its SolutionsPath services portfolio. He will report to Jeff Bawol, Avnet Americas president.

Avnet’s SolutionsPath lineup includes technology practices in networking, security, storage and virtualization, and vertical market concentrations in government and health care, structured to support the sale and delivery of data center solutions by the distributor’s channel partners.

Kedzior will work with Avnet’s channel partners in North America, Latin America and the Caribbean to help them develop data center solutions using the SolutionsPath set of services, officials said.

“Steve has the ideal combination of IT and channel experience for this key position,” Bawol said. “His skills and results-driven approach are the right combination necessary to lead this extremely important area of our business,” he said.

Hiring Kedzior to oversee Avnet’s services strategy is another marker in the distributor’s plan to capitalize on sales opportunities in the lucrative global market for services, a segment some analysts expect to grow to about $775 billion by 2013, Bawol said.

Before joining Avnet, Kedzior spent five years at Insight Enterprises Inc., a $4 billion provider of IT products and services based in Tempe, AZ. At Insight, Kedzior built and managed the company’s technology practices, including data center, networking, cloud computing, enterprise software and lifecycle services.

Prior to Insight, Kedzior held similar roles at Keane Inc., a Boston, MA-based application services specialist.
