Tech Data Opens StreamOne Solutions Store for Channel Partners Selling Software
Distributor offers Web-based platform to handle software sales, provisioning and billing to help VARs sell software to customers.
Distributor Tech Data Corp. said that it has opened a new platform for ISVs, software vendors and cloud service providers to market and sell software and cloud-based services to its roster of 60,000 U.S.-based channel partners.
The distributor’s new StreamOne Solutions Store is its second such effort under the StreamOne platform following its Software License Selector in February 2011. With the Solutions Store, channel partners can search and select software and cloud services and offer an efficient method for reselling, provisioning and billing to end customers, particularly small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), Tech Data said.
Tech Data said that the Solutions Store enables channel partners to sell niche products and cloud services such as software-as-a-service (SaaS), electronic software distribution (ESD), platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) to their customers through distribution under one invoice while benefitting from reduced license purchase cycles with rapid product or service delivery.
Bob Dutkowsky, Tech Data chief executive said that the Solutions Store represents one of the distributor’s largest investments in an electronic tool for channel partners.
"By listening closely to our customers' feedback and making one of the largest e-business tool investments in our company's history, Tech Data has set the new standard for the IT channel with the goal of making software and cloud service logistics faster, affordable, personalized and far more accessible," he said.
"To that end, the StreamOne Solutions Store pioneers an untapped path for ISVs and cloud providers to directly access niche markets previously unavailable, while providing a simpler and more efficient interface for VARs,” said Dutkowsky.
Channel partner PCMall said that the Solutions Store will help it more readily identify software solutions and cloud services for its customers.
"The Tech Data StreamOne platform is unlike anything currently offered within the channel,” said Gertrud Pillay, PC Mall Inc. vice president, Category Marketing and Licensing Operations.
“With the intuitive interface, we're able to quickly and easily bring greater value and efficiency to our customers by identifying which software solutions and cloud services will help our customers reach their goals," she said.
Tech Data said last year that beginning in Spring, 2012, the store also will be made available as a rebranded white-label offering so channel partners can set up customized stores on their own website.
