IBM Offers New Cloud-based, On-Premise Smarter Commerce Solutions
Vendor adds Commerce-as-a-Service, Social Media Marketing solutions, opens new Global Center of Competence for Smarter Commerce.
IBM Corp. said that it will offer new Smarter Commerce cloud and on-premise software solutions to help companies automate supplier and partner interactions, turn customer insights into marketing and sales actions, and leverage online, mobile and social channels.
The new solutions, Commerce-as-a-Services (CaaS) and Social Media Marketing, are based on technologies from IBM’s acquisitions last year of Unica, Coremetrics and Sterling Commerce as well as its internal development, officials said.
IBM disclosed the CaaS and Social Media Marketing solutions at its recent Smarter Commerce Global Summit conference. The vendor pegs the Smarter Commerce opportunity for software at about $20 billion worldwide.
"Smarter Commerce allows customers to shop or buy easily regardless of medium, channel or device," said Craig Hayman, IBM general manager, Industry Solutions.
"Informed by deep customer insights, companies can provide a personalized customer experience that feels like a service to consumers," he said.
The CaaS offering includes a cloud-based Configure, Price and Quote component to simplify bundled offers; a Cross-Channel Selling vehicle that connects Web store fronts to mobile devices, social networks and other channels; a Payments and Settlement solution that delivers a flexible and secure PCI compliant payment capability at customer checkout; a Supplier Integration and Management element that connects and automates supplier interactions; and, cloud-based File Transfer capability to move customer and partner data within and across businesses.
With its Social Media Marketing solution, customers can receive customized, one-to-one marketing offers automatically in real time, IBM said.
The vendor also said that it has opened a new Global Center of Competence for Smarter Commerce, part of its Global Business Services unit and staffed by Smarter Commerce consultants.
The Global Business Services unit is offering three new elements to help customers kick start their Smarter Commerce initiatives, including Business Analytics and Optimization, Enterprise Marketing Management Assessment and Supply Chain Visibility Assessment.
The offerings are designed to help clients define measurable business outcomes achievable through a Smarter Commerce roadmap.
