Dell Adds Cloud Services, Solutions Certification for Channel Partners
Badge enables partners to combine Dell’s technology with their own cloud services in customer deployments.
Dell Inc. said that it has added a new cloud services and solutions certification to its PartnerDirect program to help channel partners extend further into cloud deployments.
The vendor said that the Cloud Services & Solutions Certification will enable channel partners to expand their cloud portfolio by adding Dell technology to their own services. Officials said that the certification is intended to help channel partners strengthen their value to customers.
“We have created a certification practice area with choice and flexibility that will solidify partners’ value to the end customer,” said Bob Skelley, Dell Global Certified Partner Program & Channel executive director.
Dell’s cloud certification segments channel partners, based on functions and capabilities, into three buckets—Cloud Builder, Cloud Provider and Cloud Service Enabler.
Cloud Builders design and develop cloud infrastructures; Cloud Providers operate cloud networking operating centers (NOCs) with Dell technology to provide cloud services to customers; and, Cloud Service Enablers broker the right cloud technologies and services from multiple sources, and operate and manage it for the customer.
Partners classified into any one of the cloud models will receive pricing and benefits granted to Dell’s Preferred or Premier partners, officials said. Additional benefits include priority access to Dell’s cloud services and solutions lineup and a peek into the vendor’s future plans, financing options, participation in cloud-specific marketing, access to co-marketing funds, listing in Dell’s Find-A-Partner resource, and co-selling opportunities with Dell’s sales team.
Dell said that in constructing the certification, it relied on its internal research and data provided by Techaisle LLC, a San Jose, CA-based market researcher, indicating customers seeking the right cloud applications prefer to work with a trusted IT partner.
The vendor also said that the certification, which is currently available in North America and will be extended globally, maps to a wide variety of cloud computing solutions.
“We invested the time and resources to fully understand the cloud solutions our partners need to provide in the market,” Skelley said.
David Menendes, VeriStor Systems Inc. director, Business Development & Sales, Cloud and Hosted Services, said that Dell’s cloud partner models “align with our own cloud service offerings, enabling us to provide greater value to our customers and prospects alike.”
