Comstor Gains Worldwide Cisco UCS B-Series Authorized Configurator Status
Distributor gets nod to custom build B-series products for channel partners.
Westcon Group Inc.’s Comstor business unit for Cisco System Inc.’s products and services said that the vendor has granted it global authorized configurator status for the Unified Computing System (UCS) B-series blade servers.
Comstor officials said that supplying custom-built B-series products to channel partners will open new sales opportunities worldwide. The B-series blade servers are part of the vendor’s UCS data center platform comprised of compute, network, storage and virtualization elements.
“As one of Cisco’s elite distributors, our goal has always been to jointly accelerate customer adoption of its award-winning data center technology,” said Jon Pritchard, Comstor president.
Comstor said that a significant benefit from the new designation is that it can supply B series Cisco’s Authorized Technology Partners (ATPs) and Unified Computing Technology (UCT) Specialized Partners with build-to-order products and services.
In addition, the distributor said that the authorized configurator status adds heft to its LEAP (Learn, Experience, Architect, Plan) strategy to encourage channel partners to open a Cisco-focused data center practice.
“Earning the certification as a Cisco UCS B-Series Authorized Configurator is a natural evolution for Comstor and allows Cisco resellers with data center practices to accelerate the delivery of Cisco Unified Computing solutions to end customers,” said Scott Brown, Cisco vice president, Worldwide Distribution.
Comstor requires channel partners to take training courses and pass examinations to qualify to sell the B-series blade serves.
