Avnet Gains Authorization for Oracle Healthcare Solutions
Distributor to support select group of solution providers to sell vendor’s Healthcare Information Exchange and Enterprise Analytics solutions in North America.
Avnet Technology Solutions (ATS), the distribution arm of Avnet Inc., said that it has gained authorization to carry Oracle Corp.’s healthcare solutions, including the vendor’s Information Exchange and Enterprise Analytics solutions to sell to select channel partners in North America.
The distributor, which maintains Platinum level membership in Oracle’s PartnerNetwork (OPN), credited its HealthPath practice and SolutionsPath methodology for enabling it to build a community of highly-skilled healthcare IT solution providers necessary to win the authorization.
The agreement calls for Avnet to support a specialized group of channel partners selling technology solutions for accountable care, electronic health records (EHRs) and health information exchanges (HIEs) to small- and mid-sized hospitals.
Avnet listed channel partners participating in the initiative as Analytics Partners, Business Technology Services Inc. (BizTech), Enkitec, LP, HealthIT2, LCN Technology Inc. and Maplesoft Group. HealthIT2 and LCN maintain Oracle Gold Partner status with the other four partners holding the vendor's higher Platinum level.
Support includes training and certification for channels partners on Oracle’s HIE and Analytics Solutions. In addition, through Avnet’s Under Our Wing program, channel partners will be able to showcase Oracle’s Exadata Database Machine for hospitals’ data center and IT environments, officials said.
“Avnet is working with Oracle to foster a core team of knowledgeable solution providers that can help small and midsize hospitals prepare for the changing IT landscape,” said Chris Swahn, ATS vice president and general manager, Oracle Solutions group.
“Our partners have the in-depth healthcare expertise and deep data center experience needed to create complete technology solutions that address the business intelligence needs associated with accountable care, EHRs and HIEs,” he said.
Participating partners will be able to take advantage of Avnet’s Data Center Lifecycle Services such as planning, acquisition, integration, deployment, management and disposal of IT assets, to provide hospitals with complete IT solutions, the distributor said.
Tom Connolly, BizTech president and chief executive said that the distribution deal between Avnet and Oracle presents a unique opportunity.
“BizTech was selected to be a partner in this initiative because of our deep expertise in implementing advanced analytic solutions based on Oracle technology,” said Connolly.
“The Avnet and Oracle’s health sciences initiative addresses a critical need for healthcare providers, particularly around Health Sciences Analytics, and offers a tremendous opportunity to combine Oracle product leadership with BizTech domain expertise,” he said.
Neil de Crescenzo, Oracle Health Services senior vice president and general manager, said that hospitals will benefit from working with Avnet’s channel partners.
“Avnet and its solution provider community are well qualified to bring these solutions to small and midsize hospitals,” he said.
