Avnet Technology Solutions (ATS), the distribution arm of Avnet Inc., said that it is offering channel partners a trio of new services in healthcare, middleware infrastructure automation and cloud-based social business, which the distributor now can supply owing to its April 2012 acquisition of Ascendant Technology LLC, a $90 million specialist in software application integration and services.
The three services will help broaden channel partners’ range and ability to provide complete data center solutions, according to Avnet officials.
Avnet’s Healthcare Provider Portal, designed to complement Healthcare Information Management Systems, allow channel partners to engage healthcare providers concerning business goals and priorities and associated infrastructure and software requirements.
The distributor’s new Middleware Infrastructure Automation service provides partners with a framework to automate tasks such as installation and patching, configuration management, and application deployments on a variety of platforms.
In addition, Avnet now is offering a cloud-based collaboration and social service founded on IBM Corp. technology and aimed at business decision makers includes blogs, profiles, wikis and communities which can be quickly set up.
Avnet’s purchase of Ascendant--known for its expertise in defining and designing strategic software applications for e-commerce, enterprise portal and collaboration, web content management, infrastructure automation and cloud computing-- is central to its overall strategy to expand its service offerings and derive more revenue from service, officials said.
“Avnet acquired Ascendant Technology for their advanced capabilities and expertise in delivering IBM software implementation services that are well positioned to help our partners profitably grow their businesses,” said Fred Cuen, ATS Americas senior vice president and general manager, IBM Solutions.
“Our IBM partners can now immediately leverage this new alignment to expand their own end-to-end services, enhancing their customers’ satisfaction while maximizing new margin opportunities,” Cuen said.
Sam Fatigato, Ascendant’s former chief executive, serves as ATS Americas software services vice president and general manager.
