TechData Adds Platform for ISVs, Cloud Providers to Sell Software, Services to Channel Partners
New StreamOne Solutions Store hooks developers to channel partners for cloud services, software.
Distributor Tech Data Corp. said that it has opened a new platform for developers and cloud service providers to market and sell software and cloud-based services such as software-as-a-service (SaaS), electronic software distribution (ESD), platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) to its 60,000 channel partners in the U.S.
The distributors new StreamOne Solutions Store is its second such effort under the StreamOne platform following its Software License Selector earlier this year. The new store will open in the fall of 2011 and will available at the Tech Data Web site, officials said.
Under the StreamOne platform, channel partners will be able to search and select software and cloud services and offer an efficient method for reselling, provisioning and billing to end customers, the company said.
Beginning in spring, 2012, the store also will be made available as a rebranded white-label offering so channel partners can set up customized stores on their own website, Tech Data said.
StreamOne Solutions Store gives the ISV and cloud community a previously unavailable route to market in the channel, while providing VARs an easy way to profitably access, market, and sell software and cloud-based solutions to their customers, said Joe Quaglia, Tech Data senior vice president, U.S. Marketing.
The distributor said that the store will support both license and cloud provisioning across many consumption models and provide electronic software download and license key delivery to speed up the fulfillment process for perpetual, on-premise licensing sales.

One channel partner, Computer Media Technologies Inc. (CMT), a Santa Clara, CA-based provider of computing solutions for high-performance data security, virtualization, consolidation and infrastructure management, said that the Tech Data store will help it to build its cloud business.
