Ingram Micro Teams With IBM, Intermedia for New Cloud Services to Channel Partners

Distributor offers cloud-based compute-on-demand, managed backup for desktops and servers, and VoiP solutions.

Ingram Micro Inc.’s services division said that it has added three of IBM Corp.’s cloud-based offerings and Inc.’s hosted PBX to its managed service portfolio available now to channel partners in North America.

Included among the new cloud services are IBM’s Smart Business Cloud Enterprise, one version of Managed Backup Cloud for desktops laptops and another for servers, and Intermedia’s VoIP telephone services that integrates with its hosted Exchange offering.

The distributor previewed the cloud based-services this week to some 640 IT channel partners and industry participants at its 2011 Spring VentureTech Network Invitational in Chicago, IL.

“Cloud-based services such as compute-on-demand, backup and hosted VoIP represent significant business opportunities for channel partners and offer a great entry point for demonstrating the power, convenience and cost savings of cloud computing to business owners,” said Renee Bergeron, Ingram Micro vice president, managed services and cloud computing.

IBM’s Smart Business Cloud Enterprise is an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), compute-on-demand service, the first Ingram has offered through its cloud services portfolio, enabling channel partners to offer customers access to a secure, enterprise-class, virtual server environment.

The vendor’s two Managed Backup Cloud solutions for desktops, laptops and servers offer offsite virtual protection for stored data with recovery and restore capabilities.

Intermedia’s Hosted PBX, a hosted, business-class Voice-over-Internet-Protocol (VoIP) telephone service that integrates with the vendor’s hosted Exchange can be remotely managed from one control panel. It is the first VoIP offering in Ingram’s cloud services lineup.

“Cloud computing is the future of IT services, and as the trusted business advisor to thousands of solution providers and MSPs, it’s our mission to ensure the IT channel remains at the forefront of the cloud movement and has the tools, technologies, services and resources necessary to thrive in this new IT marketplace,” Bergeron said.
