VMware Intros New Specializations, Certifications, Solution Competency, Toolkits for Channel Partners
At Partner Exchange event, vendor unwraps vertical market specializations, desktop certification, solution competency for virtualization of business applications, seven new solution enablement toolkits.
VMware Inc. has armed channel partners to deliver on the promise of virtualization technology with a raft of new specializations, certifications, solution competencies and toolkits, offered up at the vendors Partner Exchange 2011 event in Orlando, FL this week.
In 2010, we outlined our vision for taking customers on a journey to the cloud as the industry continues its shift toward IT-as-a-Service, said Carl Eschenbach, VMwares newly named co-president, customer operations.
Our partners are on the frontlines in delivering this vision to customers, and VMware Partner Exchange 2011 is about educating partners and arming them with the right mix of programs and tools to help them become trusted advisers within the new hybrid cloud paradigm teaching them how to provide solutions across the new IT stack today while preparing them for how customers will consume IT in the future, he said.
VMware bolstered its portfolio of channel offerings by adding new specializations aimed at channel partners that sell to academic and U.S. government customers. The vendors Academic and Federal Specializations, available globally, will help partners selling into those segments differentiate themselves from competitors and rewards them for doing so, officials said.
The companys three-level desktop certification, the first of which, VMware Certified Associate 4, will be available in April, 2011, is designed to help channel partners attain the education and expertise necessary to deploy virtual desktop technology, VMware said.
Higher level VMware Certified Professional 4 and Desktop and Certified Advanced Professional badges will be available later in the year, officials said.
Seven new Solution Enablement Toolkits, Upgrades Rewards
VMware has added seven new Solution Enablement Toolkits (SETs) to the collection it offered last year, including vSphere Plan and Design and Virtualization Assessment, both housed in the Infrastructure Virtualization Library; ThinApp Plan and Design, Optimization Kit for Windows 7, and View Plan and Design, in the Desktop Library; and, vCenter Site Recovery Manager Accelerator and vCenter Site Recovery Manager Plan and Design, within the Business Continuity Library.
Partners attaining solution competencies will be afforded the vSphere Upgrade, Vsphere Jumpstart, View Pilot, Desktop Virtualization Assessment and vCenter Site Recovery Manager Jumpstart at no charge.
In addition, VMware said that it will allow partners to include renewal business into the quarterly Partner Rewards rebate program starting in April, 2011. A new program to reward sales representatives, called Sales Rewards, grants redeemable points for sales and training activities.
VMware said that to date more than 1,700 partners participate in its Solution Rewards incentive program, open to those attaining a solution competency.
