Vendor taps Scott Brown, 15-year company veteran, to replace Dave OCallaghan.
Cisco Systems Inc. said that it has appointed Scott Brown, a 15-year company veteran with nine years of field sales experience, as vice president of distribution for its Worldwide Channels organization effective as of October 11, 2010.
Brown, who most recently served as vice president of Ciscos Worldwide Sales Enablement unit, was tapped to replace Dave OCallaghan, who transitioned earlier this summer to vice president of Worldwide Commercial Sales, said Edison Peres, Cisco senior vice president, Worldwide Channels in a blog post last Friday.
Im very pleased to announce that Scott Brown will take on the role as our new Vice President of Distribution for Worldwide Channels, Peres said. After a rigorous interview process, I am confident that Scott is the right leader for this important role.
Distributors account for about 28 percent of Ciscos annual revenue, Peres said.
Brown comes to his new position with foundational experience, according to Peres.
He said that Brown was one of Ciscos first sales leaders for commercial and worked closely with distribution partners managing floor days and developing a deep understanding of the 2-Tier model.
In his previous role, Brown focused on delivering sales and educational services for Ciscos field reps and channel partners.
Peres said that he and Brown last week met with Ciscos global and regional distributors at the Global Technology Distribution Council Vendor Summit in Newport Beach, CA.
I know that Scott is anxious to build on the great work the distribution team is doing and he will begin to engage with our distribution team and partners immediately, Peres said.
Brown, who lives in Raleigh, NC, will work from Ciscos Research Triangle Park campus.
