Tech Data Rolls Out Affiliate Program For Health Care IT Vendors And Channel Partners

Names EHR provider Sage North America Healthcare first member.

Tech Data Corp. said it has initiated a program that teams providers of health care technology solutions with channel partners selling products and services to medical practitioners and organizations.

The distributor said the program, which it is calling TechMed Vendor Affiliate, already has its first member, Sage North America Healthcare Division, a Tampa, FL-based provider of practice management systems, electronic health records and services to some 80,000 physicians.

Tech Data said that its Healthcare Specialized Business Unit, which it launched last November, will support vendors participating in the affiliate program.

Through the vendor affiliate program, Tech Data intends to make available to its channel partners health care IT solutions not yet readily available through distribution. Resellers will partner directly with vendor affiliates to add member solutions to their lineup of health care offerings.

“Delivering effective IT solutions to the medical field requires a depth of industry knowledge most resellers do not yet have and that they can only acquire with a significant investment of time and resources,” said Barb Miller, Tech Data vice president, Government, Healthcare and Technical Services.

“Meanwhile, software developers like Sage are keenly aware of the processes and challenges involved with running a medical practice,” Miller said. “Through the TechMed Vendor Affiliate program, we are enabling resellers and vendors to partner and leverage each other’s expertise to quickly capitalize on the demand for healthcare IT.”

A Sage official said that access to knowledgeable IT resellers as provided by Tech Data will help it fulfill market demand.

“With our award-winning partner programs and more than 25 years of leadership in the health care market, Sage knows the business partner and the medical communities and their needs,” said Brian Muck, Sage vice president, Indirect Distribution.

“Working with Tech Data enables us to partner directly with some of the nation’s top IT resellers,” Muck said. “Their expert knowledge of networking, storage, mobility and other key technologies combined with our leading healthcare software applications will help all of us more quickly and profitably take advantage of the demand for solutions like EHR.”

Vendor affiliates will be able to preview their products and solutions to channel partners in June at Tech Data’s Technology Solutions Tour conference in Las Vegas, NV., where the distributor’s health care business unit will offer special sessions.

In addition, vendor members will be able to take part in marketing and reseller recruitment activities such as webinars, virtual tradeshows, podcasts, newsletters and benefit from inclusion in the TechMed Web Resource Center.

Sage North America, based in Irvine, CA, targets small companies with fewer than 25 employees and mid-sized organizations up to 500 employees with revenues ranging from $5 million to $100 million annually.
