Kaspersky Lab, a provider of security solutions, said it has hired Nancy Reynolds, a channel program specialist, to lead its corporate sales efforts, enhance its channel partner program and grow its business-to-business share of the market.

The Woburn, Mass-based security vendor, whose primary competitors include Trend Micro Inc., McAfee Inc. and Symantec Corp. said that Reynolds will be tasked with building its enterprise sales and shoring up its channel ranks, particularly its Green Team Partner Program. Kaspersky relies on channel partners to drive its entire sales effort.

Kaspersky hired Reynolds away from Dell Computer Inc., where she posted a six-month stint in charge of its global enterprise channel strategy. She previously served for five years as vice president of channel and SMB sales at Trend Micro and held a similar position at Novell Inc.

The vendor said that it expects Reynolds to boost its channel program and grab share from its competitors.

“We all have the highest expectations that Nancy will take our current channel commitment to a new and impressive level and position Kaspersky Lab as the model for how best to embrace the channel as we continue to gain share in the IT security market,” said Steve Orenberg, Kaspersky president.

Reynolds said that she was drawn to Kaspersky by the opportunity to advance its market position.

“Seeing Kaspersky Labs remarkable growth these past few years has made taking this position an easy decision,” she said.

“The company has done everything right in establishing a prime position in the market to continue its already impressive market expansion. I know that I am joining a team that is especially focused and driven to becoming a household name in IT security.”

Kaspersky’s channel partners source the vendor’s products in North America from distributors D & H Distributing, Computerlinks, Tech Data and Synnex Canada.

Kaspersky is expected to formally introduce Reynolds to its channel partners at the vendor’s partner conference slated for February 11 -1 4 in the Dominican Republic.
