Arrow ECS Launches New Professional Services Unit

Distributor provides technical and engineering support, education, cloud computing and managed services to channel partners and their customers.

Arrow Electronics Inc.’s Enterprise Computing Solutions (ECS) division said that it has set up a new business unit dedicated to professional services to house and administer the distributor’s support offerings, proprietary services and select cloud computing and managed services.

The new unit includes professional services consultants, engineers, technicians and instructors and is overseen by Joe Burke, Arrow ECS vice president of worldwide services.

Arrow ECS said that the new professional services unit is set up to complement its existing technical, engineering and educational support for its line card of hardware, software and storage products.

The distributor said it will coordinate and manage service providers and support channel partners on the front and back-end of engagements.

"As the services aggregator and provider, we save resellers from having to select, engage and manage service providers on their own, thereby protecting them from risk, investment costs and productivity losses," Burke said.

"Services and products are billed on a single invoice, we provide comprehensive presales and postsales product support, and we serve as the source for solution provisioning."

Arrow said that the professional services unit will provide supplier-authorized training, onsite security assessments, engineering services and 24-hour technical support for channel partners and their customers.

Unit enhances distributor’s support profile

Arrow ECS president Andy Bryant said that the professional services unit extends the distributor’s channel support.

"As a value-added distributor that supports the entire IT ecosystem, Arrow ECS is ideally positioned to address the growing professional services needs of the channel as an extension of our comprehensive channel management support," Bryant said.

"The establishment of a professional services business unit formalizes the support Arrow ECS has always provided. It demonstrates our commitment to continuing to lead in this area."

One channel partner, CDW LLC, a Vernon Hills, IL-based solution provider, said that Arrow ECS’s professional services group will help it with technical training and new product information.

“Arrow ECS' capabilities give us the opportunity to offer technical training for engineers to help keep them current on important new product offerings,” said Tom DeCoster, CDW vice president, service solutions.
