Because of increased technology usage and a higher number of system users, the football club’s bandwidth speeds were noticeably slower by 2009. Uploading 30-MB files to the Internet was taking as long as 40 minutes. Spam was also a growing problem. In response to these issues, the Essendon Football Club began their search for an e-mail security solution that would block spam before it reached users’ desktops. They also needed a Web security solution to address excessive bandwidth consumption, block access to harmful Web sites, and help the club enforce its acceptable use policy.
