As Instrumentation's workforce and remote site needs continued to grow, the company realized their existing 3Com network would need to be upgraded. The company was adding nodes to their network and also running out of IP ranges, and needed to find core switches that could handle the large number of VLANs needed.

The Jordan School District is the largest and fastest-growing school district in Utah. It expects the district's population will to grow from 75,000 to 100,000 by the year 2012. As a result, the district required a cost-effective, scalable way to improve classroom safety, while at the same time securing its network and increasing network access across its 250 sq. mi. service area.

3COM - New College


Based in Sarasota, Florida, New College is an independent, public honors college that attracts academically gifted and talented students. The school was using an aging Cisco data network, a Lucent phone system from the 1980s and was dealing with annual bill of more than $600,000 for outsourcing network maintenance services.

Goodwill Toronto, a Canadian registered charity manages 32 stores and training centers in Greater Toronto, Central and Eastern Ontario. Goodwill Toronto's technology infrastructure limited its ability to manage its daily business. The company sought an enterprise network that would converge telephony and data between its new headquarters and its stores.

3COM - House Ear Institute


House Ear Institute (HEI) is an internationally recognized non-profit research organization based in Los Angeles. Known for its contributions to auditory science, HEI's 180 employees require a fast, reliable communications infrastructure. Until recently HEI's 10/100 Ethernet headquarters network lacked the speed researchers needed to transfer files between offices and other research centers, resulting in bottle-necks that hampered staff's productivity.

GAI Consultants is a multidisciplinary engineering firm headquartered in Pennsylvania. Boasting 7 main offices and several more in the field, this successful company employs nearly 600 individuals and has 130 CADD users. When GAI Consultants moved to its new location in Pittsburgh, the company faced a daunting challenge: establishing an IT infrastructure from the ground up.

3Com-One World Hotel


One World Hotel offers five-star accommodations in Malaysia’s Klang Valley. When the hotel opened its doors in 2007, the owners envisioned that it would set a new standard for service and luxury. The hotel’s owners, who also own an adjoining shopping center, were searching for a strong and flexible network infrastructure. They needed an infrastructure that would enable the deployment of new applications without rewiring or recabling, which would result in added expenses and disruptions to business operations. They also required a system that would support the implementation of a range of modern services, such as CCTV security, IP telephony, and Internet access.

3Com-Workers Accident Medical Corporation


The Workers Accident Medical Corporation (WAMC), located in Seoul, South Korea, provides medical services for individuals who are injured on the job. This state-run institution operates two hospitals. Before implementing 3Com technologies, the Workers Accident Medical Corporation was facing several challenges. Both hospitals were experiencing severe problems with network stability, both because of outdated equipment and increased data traffic. In addition, the hospitals were receiving poor technical support from their existing vendor.

3Com-Forney Independent School District


The Forney Independent School District is located in Texas. It consists of a dozen elementary and secondary schools, and is one of the fastest growing public school districts in the state. Because of the steady increases in the number of students attending the Forney Independent School District’s educational institutions, a need arose for a highly functional, streamlined network that could effectively serve the district’s 7,000 students and 1,000 faculty members and other personnel.

3Com-Old Red Museum


After extensive renovations, the 1890’s courthouse that houses the Old Red Museum once again opened its doors in 2007. While renovations were being completed, it was decided that the entire building should be outfitted with an integrated voice and data network based on VoIP and Ethernet technology.
