AIG sought the help of VMWare in order to implement a solution that could meet their customer support and response needs. VMWare - Accountants IncAccountants Inc. is a 350 person firm that provides companies with temporary or permanent financial talent, as needed. The challenge that Accountants Inc., were facing was that the company needed to move beyond the limitations of the single-server to single-application model they had been using. IBM - Svenska HandelsbankenBased in Stockholm, Svenska Handelsbanken is a major bank in Sweden, with 459 domestic branches, as well as branches in the Nordic countries, United Kingdom and Asia. Svenska Handelsbanken offers traditional corporate transactions, investment banking and trading, consumer banking and life insurance services. To maintain a competitive edge, Svenska Handelsbanken needed to replicate its credit card and Internet banking applications to a second server, ensuring the company would not lose data in the event of a disaster. The bank also wanted to ensure that the backup server was in synch with the production server, regardless of transaction volumes. Dell - AltranAltran is a European leader in innovation consulting. Founded in 1982, the company has three areas of expertise: technology and innovation, information systems, and strategy and management. Altran needed to standardize various IT systems by installing common software solutions across Altran’s 150 companies. This included a financial consolidation application, ERP as well as e-mail. Dell-Cass Information Systems, Inc.A Missouri-based company with 900 employees, Cass Information Systems, Inc. specializes in processing invoices for a multitude of freight, utility, and telecom companies. Faced with the possibility of paying for an expensive expansion of the power and cooling infrastructure in their data center, the company began looking for ways to consolidate their physical servers, which would allow them to avoid these costs. In 2008, options for server virtualization also began to be explored when the server room in the state office reached its capacity. Backups couldn’t be completed within the company’s daily and weekend windows, and full backups took four days to finish. VSE also wanted to extend its e-mail archiving capabilities to meet growing demands for e-mail retention and retrieval.
