The Container Store makes it easier for people to get and stay organized. Like most companies that rely on the Internet to help conduct operations, The Container Store wanted to find a way to minimize and block spam. Management worried that employee productivity and network resources could be affected if this issue wasn’t properly addressed. Viruses and other computer attacks were also a concern. The retailer’s IT department was asked to find a solution that would minimize the impact of these attacks.

3Com-Forney Independent School District


The Forney Independent School District is located in Texas. It consists of a dozen elementary and secondary schools, and is one of the fastest growing public school districts in the state. Because of the steady increases in the number of students attending the Forney Independent School District’s educational institutions, a need arose for a highly functional, streamlined network that could effectively serve the district’s 7,000 students and 1,000 faculty members and other personnel.

After extensive renovations, the 1890’s courthouse that houses the Old Red Museum once again opened its doors in 2007. While renovations were being completed, it was decided that the entire building should be outfitted with an integrated voice and data network based on VoIP and Ethernet technology.

IBM-Rice University


Rice University, located in Houston, Texas, is a private research academy. The institution, founded in 1912, is known for its prestigious undergraduate programs and its strength in the applied sciences. In order to offer students a state-of-the-art research environment, the university decided to implement the Sakai system. This open source environment, currently in use by well over 100 universities, is an extremely effective collaborative tool. The university felt that the Sakai environment would encourage students and faculty to communicate and work together. After obtaining a Shared University Research (SUR) grant from IBM, Rice implemented the Sakai environment.
