Solution: Children between the ages of 11 and 18 have attended The Heathland School in West London for a high quality education since 1973. Today, 1,850 full-time students, 150 teachers, and 200 support staff make up this fine educational institution. Aside from focusing on traditional subjects, Heathland also strives to prepare its students for the unique demands of today’s workplace. Technological skills are emphasized, and students frequently use the Internet to communicate with others and conduct research for class projects.

As more students and staff began connecting to the Internet wirelessly with laptops and other devices, Heathland realized that their current network could not adequately meet their connectivity needs. They needed a new wireless network that could meet the demands of the school’s over 2,000 users. The new network also needed to support high density coverage and be scalable to accommodate future growth.

Heathland evaluated a number of industry solutions, ultimately deciding that Meru technologies could best meet their needs. A Meru Wireless LAN MC3050 50-port controller and 37 Meru AP201 access points were used to set up the school’s new and improved wireless network.

Today, the Meru network covers all three floors of Heathland's main building, all outside buildings, and a recently added extension. The widespread coverage is just one of the benefits of the Meru wireless network. It has allowed students and staff to access multimedia content, and has also permitted more teachers to take advantage of available programs since cabling is no longer a concern. Finally, teachers have more flexibility in terms of what, where, and how they teach thanks to reliable wireless access. This has enhanced the scholastic experience for instructors and students alike.
