Lantronix-Secura Key

A few years ago, Secura Key developed SK-ACP, an access control panel for entry/exit management. To allow the initial version of SK-ACP to connect to a network, Secura Key relied on the Lantronix UDS1100 external device server. The security company, however, wanted to upgrade their product to have embedded networking capability so it could offer both wired and wireless remote management.

Secura Key’s products are known for being reliable, durable, and easy to use and install.

With the help of Lantronix field engineers, Secura Key designed two plug-in networking modules. The Lantronix XPort was embedded to allow wired connectivity, while the Lantronix WiPort was incorporated to provide wireless connectivity. The final result was the redesigned SK-ACP, a product that is now being sold to new customers and to existing customers as an upgrade.

Because the two Lantronix solutions were built into a plug-in module, the requirements for separate power supplies, separate mounting, and cabling were eliminated, which lowered installation, wiring, and overall product costs. Low-cost network connectivity is a key feature of the new SK-ACP, so Secura Key can now compete more effectively in a market where network compatibility is considered an industry standard. Secura Key’s customers have also benefited. By installing the redesigned SK-ACP, they can save on insurance costs, reduce losses due to theft, and avoid re-keying expenses.
