Solution: Founded in 1991, Grupo Dinarte is a design and graphic communication company located in Madrid, Spain. Aside from graphic design, the company also provides publishing, communication, and production services. Despite having only 16 employees, Grupo's revenues were €1.9 million in 2008.

Managing information is an important part of Grupo Dinarte’s services, and they work with data in a variety of formats, including databases, text files, documents, images, and videos. In order to enhance customer service and improve their data storage systems, Grupo Dinarte wanted to upgrade its storage infrastructure. They also needed a solution that would work with Apple Mac devices and a network of PCs.

Grupo Dinarte chose Sun Microsystems solutions to upgrade its infrastructure, deploying the Sun Fire X4150 server and the Sun StorageTek 2510 iSCSI storage array with the help of Sun partner Core Systems. The Solaris 10 Operating System and Solaris ZFS technology were also part of the communication company’s comprehensive upgrade.

In addition to getting a highly scalable and flexible storage platform, Grupo Dinarte is now able to manage over 2-TB of data. Storage speed has been increased by 25 percent, while administration time has been reduced by 50 percent. By switching to an environment based on Sun Microsystems solutions, Dinarte has managed to triple the performance of their infrastructure.
