When the U.K.-based company first opened its doors in 1982, it specialized in the production of forms and stationery. Since that time, Richfield has expanded its range of services. Today, they offer a number of commercial printing services, including creative design, digital and offset printing, and storage and distribution. Through their partnership with Herald Chase, they are also able to offer direct mail services. To keep up with customer demand for shorter run lengths and faster turnarounds, Richfield introduced digital color printing services in 2005. As the number of print jobs per day grew, processing and managing them became difficult, and bottlenecks in workflow occurred frequently. Richfield Graphics recognized that in order to ensure continued customer satisfaction, they needed to find a way to improve workflow efficiency. The printing company already had a strong relationship with Xerox, and they decided to stick with this companys products after considering several digital color printing and workflow solutions. They purchased a Xerox iGen3 110 Digital Production Press with a Creo Spire Color Server and two Xerox FreeFlow workflow components. One of the workflow components allows customers to conveniently order and submit jobs online, while the other automates many of the tasks associated with processing and completing jobs. Since deploying the Xerox printing and workflow solutions, Richfield Graphics has seen their printing volumes increase. They estimate that 40 percent of these orders would not have been received without the purchase of the new equipment. Customers can place and review their orders at any time since these tasks can now be completed online. The Xerox solutions have also helped Richfield Graphics bottom line. Workflow is more automated, requiring less staff involvement, and short-run jobs can be completed more quickly, both of which help boost the profits of this successful commercial printing company.
