The Barton Mutual Group wanted to update their data storage system and disaster recovery solution to incorporate virtualization and safeguard important client information. Vendor: Intel (NYSE: INTC) Channel Partner: Stronghold Data www.strongholddata.com Customer: Barton Mutual Group www.bartonmutualgroup.com Technology Used: Intel Server System SC5400RA, featuring the Intel Xeon processor 5400 series, Software VMware Infrastructure 3 with VMware ESX 3.5, VMware Virtual Desktop Infrastructure with VMware Virtual Desktop Manager, Vizioncore vReplicator Solution: The headquarters of the Barton Mutual Group is located in rural Missouri. The group, consisting of three companies, has been providing mutual insurance for Missouri families for more than a century. Their excellent customer service and local focus have allowed them to compete with larger providers and be a lasting success in this competitive industry. Like every insurance company, the Barton Mutual Group must store a large amount of financial data about its customers. This data must be able to be retrieved quickly, and it must be stored safely and securely. The Barton Mutual Group wanted to update their data storage system and disaster recovery solution to incorporate virtualization and safeguard important client information. For assistance with this task, the company turned to Intel reseller Stronghold Data. They overhauled Barton Mutuals existing servers to give the company a modern IT infrastructure. The server mirroring solution deployed was based on Intel server hardware, and validation was completed with the Intel ESAA program. An Intel ESAA recipe was also used to replicate company data to allow for disaster recovery. Barton Mutual Group's partnership with Stronghold Data has been beneficial for the insurance provider in several respects. All information can be safely stored in the new system, and customer data is always accessible because authorized users can log into the off-site servers via the Web. Because information is stored by both on-site servers and in Stronghold Data's off-site underground data storage center, important information can be recovered quickly in the event of a disaster, something that offers peace of mind to the Barton Mutual Group and their valued clients.
