Solution: DeVry University, a private educational organization, offers a number of undergraduate and graduate programs, and is known throughout the country for the quality of its IT programs. DeVry’s main campus is located in Chicago, but the organization has dozens of other locations throughout America and Canada. Its student population totals about 40,000. DeVry offers a number of online learning programs in addition to its more traditional courses.

Although they originally offered only business and general education courses online, DeVry began looking for solutions a few years back that would allow them to expand their online learning programs into the technology arena. They were faced with the challenge of providing these online students with the high-quality, hands-on learning DeVry is known for. Students would also need to be able to access applications remotely at any time.

After trying several application delivery solutions, DeVry attended a demo of Citrix Presentation Server and realized it was exactly what they had been looking for. They now use this program with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 as the primary method of delivering applications to online students.

Thanks to the implementation of the Citrix Presentation Server, licensing costs have been lowered and new applications and updates can be implemented more quickly. By using Citrix EdgeSight for Presentation Server, DeVry’s IT staff can efficiently monitor and track errors, allowing them to develop strategies to avoid such errors in the future. The Citrix solution has also allowed DeVry University to expand its online curriculum to include technology applications while maintaining its high educational and program delivery standards.
