The team wanted to establish a website for the upcoming racing season that would reflect its leading position. They had seven weeks to accomplish their goal. Williams F1 turned to Accenture and Avande, both Microsoft resellers to implement a solution to the problem, using Microsoft Commerce Server 2002, Microsoft Content Management Server 2002 and Microsoft SQL Server 2000. The website needed to reflect the Williams F1 brand identity and be reliable and scalable enough to cope with the peak hits it received over race weekends. It also had to be simple enough to use so that team personnel could easily adapt to it. The implementation resulted in improved media relations that encouraged sponsors. The team was able to gain control of its online brand. The new websie met the criteria of scalability and robustness that Williams F1 sought.
