Solution: Accuride Corp, is a large manufacturer of components for commercial vehicles in North America, they needed a new comprehensive application platform that was rich in integration capabilities and had to deliver a new scheduling system and expose the data in multiple systems for access over the web. The client believed the existing IBM iSeries was not a viable platform to meet these needs. The solution had four main components. The first was a Service Bus that validated incoming EDI messages. This component was based on Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006. Second was an Intranet site based on Windows SharePoint Services that made it easier for business users to correct errors in incoming EDI messages. Third was a Scheduling Application based on Microsoft ASP.Net that allowed production planners to finetune production schedules after EDI messages were received. Finally, an Extranet Site also based on Microsoft ASP.NET that exposed data in BizTalk Server for access by customers over the web. The solution resulted in more predictable factory operation, improved employee productivity, complete customer visibility into the manufacturing process, reduced integration costs and IT workload and strong reliability, scalability flexibility and ease of management.
