Each municipality operated its own system so any effective mobile system needed to function efficiently for each response organization. Channel Partner: Unidentified Customer: Chester County, Penn Technology: ML900 rugged notebooks Solution: The Chester County Department of Emergency Services coordinates services with 73 municipalities and 100 public safety departments. The county wanted to upgrade the mobile-data capacities of multiple agencies. Each municipality operated its own system so any effective mobile system needed to function efficiently for each response organization. The solution included installing Motorola ML900 rugged notebooks in every police car and ambulance and two or three in every firehouse. As a result, all the responders, including police, fire and EMS, see the same data simultaneously. The new system is the primary source of data transfer between the 911 center and field users. Response time has improved as the ML900s are used to preload disaster plans. Officers spend more time on the street because they can file reports right from their cars. The system is also well-integrated with other hardware systems.
