Cloudworks, a SMB Cloud Services Provider, and Ongoing Operations, a Business Continuity Specialist, Open New Data Centers for Financial Industry
Cloudworks, a Thousand Oaks, CA-based provider of cloud services to small- and medium-sized businesses, and Ongoing Operations LLC, a Hagerstown, MD-headquartered specialist in business continuity solutions for credit unions, said that they had opened new data centers in Arizona and Maryland to provide cloud-based IT solutions to financial services clients.
"The financial services industry has approached the cloud computing revolution cautiously because of its strict regulatory and security standards and unparalleled billions of dollars in transactions, but that is now changing because of advances Cloudworks is helping drive in partnership with a leading industry provider," said Mike Eaton, Cloudworks founder and chief executive.
Officials said that the Arizona data center already is online and the Maryland center will follow before June, 2011.
While the data centers are aimed at the financial services industry, Cloudworks officials said that the facilities will provide expanded redundancy and disaster recovery for its services in all industries.
Cloudworks and Ongoing Operations previously teamed to offer virtual desktops and hosted Microsoft Exchange services to credit unions to help them reduce total ownership costs, provide built-in backup and manage expenditures through monthly service fees rather than a large capital outlay.
"By meeting and exceeding this risk-averse industry's security and compliance requirements, we are able to overcome any regulatory hurdles and enable the financial services industry to capitalize on all the benefits the cloud offers," said Eaton.
Cloudworks maintains partnerships with Cisco Systems Inc., Citrix Systems Inc., Dell Inc. and Microsoft Corp.
