Symantec Offers Single Licensing and Management Model for Physical and Virtual Environments
Symantec Corp. recently said that it will offer one licensing and management model for its security solutions across physical and virtual infrastructures. The developer said that it has optimized its security solutions, including endpoint security, messaging security and endpoint management, for virtualized settings, a move it said will help businesses to lower costs and complexity associated with maintaining security virtual environments.
The anti-virus company's strategy is to deliver what it calls Single Instance Security, in which guests share a single instance of the appropriate security technologies, including malware definitions and scanning engines, rather than each guest having separate protection.
Symantec said that its altered approach will provide better data protection and lower operational costs for security in online and offline virtual environments.
"By innovating aggressively across our product lines, Symantec is focused on providing customers with the tools they need to confidently move forward with virtualization security projects," said Francis deSouza, Symantec senior vice president, enterprise security group.
"Our defense-in-depth approach to securing virtual and physical environments allows us to deliver network-, file- and behavior-based protection technologies from the industry leader in security," deSouza said.
