Consumer Confidence in Technology Soars in December
Consumer confidence in technology is at its highest point in the last year and a half, according to the latest figures from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), a 2000-member industry trade association.
According to the Consumer Index of Consumer Technology Expectation (ICTE), consumer expectations about technology spending is at its highest level since January, 2007, at 93.7 some seven points higher than this time last year and eight points more than in November.
"December set a new high for tech spending sentiment, suggesting individuals closed out the holiday season with tech on their minds," said Shawn DuBravac, CEA's chief economist and director of research.
"This late jump in tech sentiment suggests a strong holiday push for technology spending in December," DuBravac said.
The ICTE is updated on a monthly basis through consumer surveys. Fresh data is release on the fourth Tuesday of each month. The CEA has been tracking index data since January, 2007.
