Ingram Adds Scale Computing's SMB, Midmarket Storage Solutions

Ingram Micro Inc. said that it has signed a distribution agreement with fledgling Scale Computing, an Indianapolis, IN-based provider of scale-out storage solutions to SMBs and mid-market businesses.

Scale-out refers to storage architecture constructed for rapid growth in high performance environments, specifically built with cost-efficient equipment and systems to create a large, inexpensive solution.

With the Ingram agreement, Scale, which sells exclusively through the channel, gains access to the distributor's lineup of channel partners. Scale said that Ingram channel partners will have to apply to the vendor for authorization prior to selling its products.

To attract the interest of Ingram's channel partners, Scale has initiated a sales incentive program for resellers' sales reps for Q4 of up to $1,000 per net new customer signed during the quarter.

Under terms of the incentive offer, Scale will pay $500 per new customer to sales reps selling any model of the vendor's storage cluster, excluding its new N05 Starter Cluster, to at least three new customers during the fourth quarter.

Scale clusters of any model except the N05 sold to at least six new customers during the quarter will bring $1,000 per new customer to the sales rep(s).

The vendor said that it will pay the sales incentives within 30 days of the quarter's close.

Scale's N05 StorageNode, the vendor's most recent product, offers 1.5TB of storage and is priced at $7,500. The company has positioned the product as suitable for the virtualization, archiving and overall storage needs of SMBs.
