New Tech Data Web Site Two Weeks From Live

Distributor Tech Data Corp. in two weeks plans to launch its new web site,, which the company initially unwrapped last May at its TechSelect Spring Partner Conference in Miami Beach, FL.

The distributor had been beta testing the web site--featuring a new design, better navigation, and a lineup of exclusive e-business tools aimed at helping channel partners conduct daily business--since last fall, recently rolling it out to all of its customers.

"Sixty-thousand IT reseller employees use to perform more than five million product searches, resulting in 50 million pages views each month," said John Tonnison, Tech Data executive vice president and chief information officer.

The site's new features include a customer-like interface, updated navigation, a customizable home page, and a series of widgets to make it easier and quicker for users to perform everyday tasks such as a favorites list, quick ordering, recent searchers and a lead tracking engine.

Tonnison said that key to the site is a new collection of e-business tools the distributor will roll out later this summer, such as MyGovBids, a utility it put into use in April that enables resellers to track and manage government bids created with Tech Data.

"We're going farther than we ever have to integrate with our core enterprise systems to create a host of exclusive tools that will dramatically enhance our customers' online interactions with Tech Data and their own competitive advantage," Tonnison said.
