Ingram Micro Promotes Robinson, Adds Former Exec

Distributor Ingram Micro Inc. said that it has promoted Kirk Robinson, its former head of channel marketing, to vice president, VAR and GovEd sales, market development and business intelligence.

Robinson was instrumental in his prior role in building a business intelligence team that analyzed current sales information to forecast future purchasing patterns. The distributor's storehouse of data is at the center of its recently formed Business Intelligence Center, which Robinson heads.

He also was involved in the construction of four of Ingram's key partner groups, namely VentureTech Network, Gov/Ed Alliance, SMB Alliance and System ArchiTechs.

In his new role, Robinson will drive sales strategies and performance with Ingram's VAR and government customers in the U.S., while still maintaining his hold on the distributor's business intelligence initiative.

Paul Bay has returned to Ingram after a four-year stint as chief executive of Punch! Software, a maker of home and landscape design software.

Bay comes back to Ingram as executive vice president with responsibility for partner-facing sales and marketing activities in North America. He previously worked at Ingram from 1995 to 2006.
