Tech Data and Cisco Help Close the Deal

Tech Data has opened a $1 million solutions center featuring Cisco products in an effort to help channel partners sell networking and unified communications solutions. There are several solutions stations within the center that can be equipped or reconfigured with any Cisco product stocked by the distributor.

The facility is funded by both Cisco and Tech Data, and it's designed for both VARs and their customers to get more "hands-on" with Cisco products. It will act as a showcase and demonstration facility for VARs. The facility includes specific "stations" devoted to technical areas such as security and network management; unified communications;  enterprise teleworker; small business; enterprise call center; and "vertical market" that includes integrated solutions for retail environments. Tech Data will have Cisco engineers and sales personnel available to assist customers, especially when new Cisco products are released.

It's not unusual for distributors and vendors to work together in this kind of effort. However, this joint action by Tech Data and Cisco is certainly a commendable effort to help channel partners get ahead of the curve on new technologies that can build revenue and profits.
