Server Virtualizaton On Tap for Tech Data VARs
Distributor Tech Data is hosting its annual TechSelect University event next week, an annual partner education conference for SMB VARs. This year, the focus is on helping channel partners meet the rising demand for server virtualization solutions.
Tech Data officials say more than 130 TechSelect members will receive free VMWare VCP and VSP training. They'll also be marketing strategy sessions presented by the American Marketing Association. And there's an opportunity for VARs to interact with vendor manufacturers and publishers from channel companies such as Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, Symantec, McAfee and VMWare. All told, Tech Data estimates that $200,000 in free training will be provided to channel partners at the event.
Although they don't get a lot of publicity, such gatherings prove highy valuable to the VAR participants, and they are a way for distributors like Tech Data to differentiate themselves from the competition. Of course, they also benefit the distributors and vendors by preparing the VARs to sell products more effectively. This seems to be a case where most everyone wins, and that's especially true for the channel partners involved.
