HP's Challenges Echo Through the Channel
On the eve of an earnings report from chief rival Dell, news about HP's channel challenges are still ricocheting around its partner conference in Las Vegas.
Ziff's Channel Insight site has a solid article about the top 10 challenges HP faces in the channel, which range from a lack of storage products to weak software investments. It's a dead-on examination of HP's woes, but pretty short on actual solutions to the problems raised (primarily because HP seems to still be working on the fixes.)
Meanwhile, CMP's Channel Web site reports from the conference that HP is actually going to make it tougher for its VARs in the government sector by boosting the bar to reach higher sales incentives tenfold! I guess HP is trying to separate the wheat from the chaff here, but it seems an odd way to boost relations with VARs active in this market.
It's clear HP still has a lot of sorting out to do with its channel relations.
